Meeting @ William & Patricia Parker’s Lower East Side apartment to discuss the connection of politics, political activism, and environmentalism, in the ongoing identity of The 401C3 Arts for Arts that produces the NYC Vision Festival. Sometimes heated debate uncovered the desire of most, if not all, of the artists in attendance to continue linking music with the social world as a modus operandi, and to figure out new ways of linking with other progressive political groups. Other topics included the rise of Fascist music events in Brooklyn, avant-garde classical music in the 20th century, balancing multiple styles, and the gentrification of avant-music in NYC. William Parker made the astute point that this music is “already changing lives,” the question seems to be how to change more lives. Gentrification, silence and non/politics in music as political censorship. No space found for 2015 Latin FreeJazz Festival. 🙁 More support for Patricia from artists, and artists encouraged to represent Arts for Arts @ other social political events. Discussion of continuation of inter-artist campaign to raise money for Arts for Arts. Meetings will be scheduled quarterly,
